Tash Hearts Tolstoy by Kathryn Ormsbee

5.0

5/5✨

This book is the story of a girl name Tash who really love Tolstoy and decided to write and produce a web-series about Anna Karenina while in the meantime discovering and accepting her asexuality.
I loved this book from the first to the last word. The asexual representation put in the book is very good: I am myself asexual and I started crying in multiple parts because I was finally represented in a good written novel.
The cast of characters in very good characterized and each of them had his/her own personality. Some of them were more likable then others but that’s obviously standard: I also resonate with more than one character, which for me it’s strange. Even the characters whose choices I didn't like or where unlikeable, were still very well constructed. My personal favorite was Paul.
I found a good representation of the family: often in books the families are described as evil and bad just because it’s useful to the plot to have some drama. Here, there is a lot of family drama but the family it’s still portrayed in a vary positive manner. Even the family of Tash's best friend has its own problem, but it's still very positively portrayed.
The plot is has a slow paste mostly because it is a character driven novel: yes, the story is about Tash doing a web series about Anna Karenina but I dare say it's mainly on her discovery on how to live while being asexual. The part dedicated to the web series is still very interesting and would been very interesting for my fellow fans of The Lizzie Bennet Diaries. Also, at some point the characters go to a convention and it was an equally interesting part that reminded me of my own book.
These book touched themes such as sexuality, family changes, first love, acceptance, friendship, the fandom and the online world.
