Death by Laura Thalassa

Thanatos (Death) & Lazarus: Literally Life and Death... Brilliant! - 5 Stars
I finally reached the end of what has been the most brilliantly written series I've read to date. DEATH picks up right where FAMINE left with Thanatos wreaking havoc among the Earth by killing its inhabitants without any real effort. He encounters Lazarus, a woman who lives up to her name in every sense of the word. Lazarus cannot die. well, she does, the only thing is, she never actually stays dead. This puts her as a worthy opponent and adversary to Thanatos, as someone who is unaffected by his power and has the wherewithal to stop him. And boy does she try! LOL
I lost count on the number of times Lazarus died at the hands of Thanatos. Many of their scenes were absolutely hilarious. I was amazing how the reader gets to see Thanatos evolve from a being to an actual person, experiencing real feeling and emotion. He came to love Lazarus dearly and I loved watching this transformation. Lazarus was by far, the best, most well-rounded heroine of all four books. I felt her conflict and her pain as she struggled to accept that death inevitable and it's a path that everyone must walk. One scene with her truly broke me to the point of tears where I had to be consoled by my husband. YES... it was THAT deep.
This story has a little bit of everything. It will take you through every emotion: happy, sad, lustful, appreciative, and cathartic. I laughed at some parts and I'm not ashamed to admit that I actually cried at some. But the story was so well done that it brought this reader a sense of peace. I reread Pestilence before this book to see if I still had the same reservations with it the first time I read it. I will now go back and edit my review as I seriously misjudged this series. I highly recommend this series. I promise you, you will not regret it!
Happy reading!
