chloe gong i want my precious 24 hours back !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

the jump from foul lady fortune getting 4.5/5 to 1/5 for foul heart huntman is insane. the ending of the first book was promising, nurturing the hype to read book 2 but down the road the flower of the buzz was plucked and crushed.

the main issue for me was the writing. there is no way the same author wrote these violent delights series and foul heart huntsman. the beautiful prosing was no where to be seen. chloe gong do possess the capability to write words which have you getting lost in them but here i was skimming through pages and was hoping to get done with it.

last 30% of the book i was skimming through it. i didn't even read the epilogue, i just wanted to mark this book as finished as quickly as possible because i was getting irritated with the lack of character development, boring characters getting povs, oliver, the slow pacing and the plot being all over the place.

[SPOILERS]
silas and phoebe grabbed my attention at the betrayal. they had me pacing the room because what the fuck was that !!????!!!! /pos. i didn't care about them much especially phoebe because she is like eighteen and is a deadly assassin????? when did she get the time to train to be able to reach that point 😭 though the twist dropped my jaw but still i couldn't take her seriously.....

the romance of orion and rosalind felt underdeveloped and the flashback of them meeting back in paris as children was so unserious. i was laughing. they had a good dynamic in the first book which could have gotten better in this if properly handled especially with the amnesia but alas.

really didn't like oliver since day one and i still don't. something about him feels wrong and icky and celia felt like a completely different character. i couldn't resonate with her like i could in tvd series. so i really didn't care about their romance.

and alisa...... she was okay
