I don't read many poetry collections, and I'm glad I got back into the genre with this one.

Soldier's verse is straight forward and her rhyme and structure are interesting. She uses space effectively to guide the reader through each poem and from poem to poem, section to section. The thematic through-lines are apparent and emotional, but she's not pedantic with her message/s.

I read a few of her pieces to my creative writing students when we did poetry this semester, and I think Soldier may have a few more fans.
