All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr
5.0
I think as a book community we have been on a WWII historical fiction kick and as a life long liver of historical fiction, I'm here for it. But why do I keep reading WWII novels and expecting everyone to live?! I constantly get so sad! (PS this is not a spoiler because of you go into a war novel expecting everyone to live you are just as naive as me). ⠀⠀
I listened to this book on audio and it was a delightful experience. I think I'm landing on historical fiction as my favorite kind of audio book. Especially because I am very bad at pronouncing words from other languages and would have butchered name pronunciations had I read this physical book.
⠀⠀
This is a lovely book about a French girl and a German boy in situations they could not have forseen figuring out how to move forward. I was equally invested in both characters and although I wasn't always sure what to root for in this book, I was rooting for the best for them.
