The Devil’s Desire is this author’s debut novel. It is hands down one of my favorite reads of the year. I’m super impressed that this author was able to infuse so much depth and inner turmoil in a book that is, essentially, a short, dark romance. It might just be my ex-Catholic, religious trauma talking, but I really connected with the MFC Avis. I LOVED this depiction of the Devil. Spice level was through the roof! Some quick tropes include forbidden love, adversaries-to-lovers, Satan and innocent yet rebellious nun, questioning religion, “if you run, I will hunt you,” touch her & die vibes, etc. It is a standalone novel with a happy ending & no cheating. Deducted points because this story took place around the 1400s, which is cool, but it did not feel like the 1400s. For example, the MFC often used the word “mom” but that word wasn’t introduced until around the 1820s. Honestly, I don’t really care, it is dark fantasy erotica not a history textbook, but it made me wonder why the author chose that time period. They did such a great job though, that I didn’t mind too much. Overall, a fantastic story! Really wish we got more of the couple in Hell because that world building was inspired…one could say it was out of this world!… Sorry, I had to!
