Very, very dark--particularly the beginning, when we see how Cordelia lives with her mother--but equally excellent. This felt like the natural convergence between the author's fairytale and horror novels.
Graphic: Animal death, Child abuse, Death, Emotional abuse, Gore, Panic attacks/disorders, Physical abuse, Violence, Death of parent, and Murder
Moderate: Injury/Injury detail
Minor: Animal cruelty
The animal death is not technically an animal because it's actually a demon in the shape of a horse, and it comes back headless and with eight legs instead of four . And the animal cruelty is actually demon-on-animal cruelty .
