I love these novels. Though the Lost World isn't as good as Jurassic Park, it's still brilliant.
It's main fault as I see it, is how slow it is in the beginning. For some reason it focuses a lot on various scientists' petty squabbling. Jurassic Park is a slow novel too but has interesting, exciting and often frightening stories from different people impacted by escaped dinosaurs. I can see why the second movie takes its' opening scene from the first book. Also, Ian Malcolm's even more annoying frenemy, Levine, really wasn't needed...

After it gets started though, the Lost World has fantastic action, imagery of dinosaurs and some great characters. The kids (Kelly and Albie) are especially fantastic as they're more realised characters than the kids in book 1. Harding is also an almighty badass. 10/10 female biologist character from my entirely not biased female biologist POV and that's not just because she works with hyenas, which is my dream.
This series is definitely on my top 100 books to read before you die.
