Arthur: King of Britain by Michael Fraley

4.0

A great account of the legend of King Arthur. It's not the fantastic tale of wizards and men, though Merlin does make an appearance. This Arthur is a gritty conqueror that seeks control of the world. This is a stripped down version of the legend, given as a history.

I enjoyed the sections that dove into the true history and the modern version of the legend. Fraley does a great job explaining the likely inspirations taken from the author from which this graphic novel is adapted.

This is a collection of a series published in the mid 90s. Archaeology has revealed a lot of new information concerning what Knights would have worn in the 6th century, so the art is a little inaccurate, but it's quite nice to look at.
