I had hiiigh expectations going into this book because everyone seemer to love it. I didn't know what to expect or what it's really about and for the first couple of chapters I was REALLY confused and had no clue about anything at all.
The concept of the Providence Cards was so interesting but I also think there were too many Cards because even now I don't know what half of them do tbh. I was confused quite often, haha.
The characters were likeable but not loveable, at least for me. I think they're okay but I don't really have a connection to them... Ravyn and Elspeth had some cute moments but I was unsure about their relationship - their love happened so quickly and instantly that I was questioning myself if I skipped a few pages, hmmm.
I had my troubles with the first person writing style... that's a me thing though and apart from that it was good and once I got into it it wasn't a problem anymore.
Overall I'm a little disappointed and defintely expected to love it more. However and despite all the things I mentioned I still enjoyed it - the last 50-100 pages were REALLY good and made me curious for book 2!
