I truly appreciate when a sequel surpasses its predecessor, and this one definitely does! While I found the first book to be decent, it felt a bit slow. However, this sequel is a significant improvement.

The plot picks up right where the first book left off, and I enjoyed the increased focus on side character development.

But the real highlight is the evolution of Talasyn and Alaric's relationship. Their witty banter and simmering tension were perfectly executed. The slow-burn romance, complete with a touch of spice, was absolutely captivating. Alaric's unwavering devotion to Talasyn had me completely swooning. There's something undeniably appealing about an MMC who is so wholeheartedly in love with his wife.
