The story sounded really interesting and I did like the “after conception” chapters but unfortunately I had a really hard time getting through the “before conception” chapters. I almost gave up on finishing the book at all.

These flashback chapters were very sexual and loaded with fetish to the point where reading it just felt weird to me. I don’t think I would’ve minded them as much if the chapters were shorter, but the chapters were really long. It was as if I was told a story with a point, but instead of ending the chapter once that story was given it just kept going and going and going. The “after conception” chapters were also long but I found those to be a lot more bearable.

Another thing that gave me a hard time with this book was that Reese (one of the main characters) was just… not likeable at all. The other two were flawed, complex characters as well, but Reese stood out to me. And not in a particularly fun way.
