Grown Ups by Marian Keyes
4.0
Took me a while to get into this book. My previous read left me with absolutely no desire to read another book. The fact that I started this one while travelling with 46 youngsters asking me a stream of questions probably had something to do with it as well.
The first chapter wasn't a very enticing one to read on. I don't do well with a plethora of names to remember, especially if I can't actually imagine who we're talking about. I also couldn't let go of the fact that this is about families in Ireland. In my mind, they had to be American. The exuberant spending must have something to do with it.
As my reading progressed and Keyes starts getting into every single character's back story and inner world though, I couldn't stop reading. Took me about 200 pages, so this is not for the DNF'ers on Goodreads. In the end, I could identify with many of the characters (not Liam though, asshole).
A (not so) tiny, shiny gem.
