Your Words Your World by Louise Bélanger

3.0

As a Muslim reader, I found this theologically interesting, the times when our beliefs are the same and the times when they're decidedly not. I wouldn't judge a book on those merits - especially not when intentionally picking up work by a Christian author - but it's part of what kept me interested when at times the poetry felt lacking. The poem about Jesus having and making a choice especially struck me, as did poems on ordinariness and the natural world. Other poems didn't seem to be saying anything - some felt like prose arbitrarily structured as verse - but the photos helped things from getting monotonous, as did moments of genuinely good poetry.
