Ruthless Vows by Rebecca Ross
5.0
Format: Print
I was so pleased to be back in Iris and Roman’s world (and so quickly – a rarity for me!). I felt that in Ruthless Vows we got more of the elements that we didn’t see in Divine Rivals – more on the Gods and the war. I think this transition worked really well – having fallen for the characters in the first book, here I was able to truly get to grips with what was happening around them and how it was impacting their world. I do think that I enjoyed this slightly less but that’s because of some of the more repetitive elements in the first half of the book. By the second half I was fully invested and so emotional at the events that were happening – a few weeks into the year and I’ve already cried at a book! I remained invested in the relationship between Iris and Roman – and particularly in this volume in their relationships with side characters which were so well developed. I also really liked that I didn’t fully predict the outcome of the book – while some of my thoughts were close they weren’t exact, which allowed me to be surprised as the book reached its conclusion.
Overall, I think this was a fantastic duology, and I’m excited to pick up more by Rebecca Ross.
