Tame the Heart by Ava Hunter
4.0
4 - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
“On my knees for you, baby,” I drawl. “You like that? ‘Cause that’s how you’re always gonna have me.”
This was so wholesome I really needed it.
I love my cowboys/ranchers grumpy but with a heart of gold and this grumpy x sunshine, small-town romance serves that and more.
The free-spirited Ruby Bloom has a serious heart condition but that didn't stop her from committing to a bucket list and embark on a getaway that led her to Resurrection, a tiny town in Montana and there she meets Charlie Montgomery, a sexy rancher and one hell of a grump.
Sparks flew from the moment Charlie saved Ruby from a bar fight and while Ruby falls first, Charlie falls harder but both are haunted by something that might come in the way of their happily ever after.
So expect some angst because it'll get angsty.
But it's not only the romance that made this book so good, the Montgomery family dynamic was a lot of fun and I love the bond between the brothers and how they always have each other's backs.
I also appreciate how Ruby's condition was handled which is a heart condition called supraventricular tachycardia (SVT). It wasn't swept under the rug nor was it a plot conflict that had to be resolved. It's a condition that she must live with her entire life so I appreciate that wasn't ignored or magically healed.
If you're in the mood for a sweet and spicy small-town, cowboy romance then this is it!
✨Tropes to expect:
— Sunshine x Grumpy
— Employee x Boss
— Age gap (26 x 34)
— Small-town/Ranch life
— Spicy
Trigger warnings: this book deals with a health condition, grief, mention of death of loved ones.
