People We Meet on Vacation by Emily Henry
5.0
When I received this book in my #bookofthemonth box, I was thrilled because I loved Beach Read. I wanted to love this, too! I was ready for a summer-y read.
I read this a while ago and ended up DNFing it because the time skips got to me. If you don’t know, People We Meet on Vacation is about a woman named Poppy who travels with her best friend Alex each summer. This is their love story.
The novel is set up with a series of time skips, illustrating the trips of summer past and its comparison with the current summer trip.
Those skips became too much and I decided to come back to it later. Well, it’s later and not only did I finish it, but I loved it.
It was adorable and the romance was so well planned out. Poppy and Alex met freshman year of college and were not immediate friends. They have completely different personalities and it’s a miracle they formed a friendship to begin with.
Their drastically different personalities made the story endearing and relatable. I actually liked the time jumps this time around because they linked so well with the current part of their summer that it never seemed like filler.
As a side note, Emily Henry made me want to travel and blog. I’ve always been a writer (and partial blogger), but this novel really made me want to invest more time and effort into my blog.
I also want to travel and see things, experience new things. It’s crazy how fiction can like a spark in you.
Anyway, this was a terrific summer read and I highly recommend it if you’re a romance fan! Read it before the summer is over!
