Every Heart a Doorway by Seanan McGuire

5.0

Reread November 2018 - I still love this so much. The language is gorgeous, the characters diverse and complex, the world building interesting, and the pacing just right. This book just speaks to me : “You’re nobody’s rainbow, you’re nobody’s princess, [and] you’re nobody’s doorway, but your own, and the only one who gets to tell you how your story ends is you”

And I liked the sort of foreshadowing to the premise of the next book.

Reread after having finally gotten to Down Among the Sticks and Bones and Beneath the Sugar Sky. I’m amending my rating to a 5, I just enjoy the authors language choices so much and feel like this time (perhaps from more knowledge about the worlds?) I noticed things I might’ve missed when I first read it.
