City of Bones by Cassandra Clare

3.0

Finally, I've decided to read this book. I really like Cassandra Clare's writing style and definitely prefer the third person rather than the first person because it just gives you a wider view of the world, the characters, and their emotions which was pretty helpful for my imagination. I'd always like to be able to imagine the world of the book that I am reading. I rated it three stars because it didn't really make me that attached to it and I get that because it is the first book that calls for an introductory part of the universe that Cassie Clare has created. I have watched the movie and finished the series so I knew bits and pieces of it, but for someone reading this book the first time, it might be too informative because of how the monsters and characters were dumped all together.
Spoiler And I was just wondering about how Jace had reacted to Valentine's reveal that Clary was his daughter and that Jace's mother is Jocelyn, noting that they were siblings when in fact he (Jace) should have known all along that Clary was his (Valentine) daughter. Like, it doesn't really make sense. Even if no one told Jace that his mother was Jocelyn, he should have known by then that Clary is his sister the moment Valentine told him that he was his son.
