I can’t believe I only have ONE volume left until I’m done with the series! After the ending of this volume I have to say I’m a little scared for volume eight. When Hua Cheng tossed a one my heart DROPPED. But for the most part this volume was just so fun; there were so many good moments! The Hualian scenes had me giggling, they are so so sweet and oh my god the other heavenly officials’ reactions to them were so hilarious. “Ho ho” Pei Ming I see you and I thank you for your services being the Hualian shipper that you are. And Shi Qingxuan FINALLY made an appearance again; I missed him so much! I also have to mention the plot twist because even If I predicted Jun Wu being White No-Face the reveal was still so satisfying to read that it didn’t mind it. I think Jun Wu’s backstory is so interesting because of how he started of as this hero archetype. He was a god facing an impossible situation with his people’s expectations a burden on his shoulders, and what he wanted most of all was to save them. And yet his good intentions only caused harm in the end and instead brought both the downfall of his people, but also his own destruction. It think Xie Lian and Jun Wu are very similar, but the most poignant difference between them is that while Jun Wu stopped seeing the goodness in people, Xie Lian can’t help but look for the good in them no matter how much they betray him. No matter how hard Jun Wu tries to shape Xie Lian into becoming like him, putting him through the same pain and suffering that Jun Wu endured so he won’t have to bear it alone, Xie Lian won’t go down his path.
