The Poppy War by R.F. Kuang
4.0
well holy fuck. i feel exhausted after reading this book. The Poppy War is very heavy, there’s discussion & portrayal of colonization, drug abuse, genocide, self harm, child murder, war, & more. This was such a well written book, & yet I still feel at odds because of how fucking sick & real all the things that go on in this book is, it’s fucking depressing.
Rin becomes so morally grey throughout this story it’s insane. There’s so much happening in this novel & it’s all so deep, whenever I think about it I just feel so weighed down by all the troubles in this. This book kept me on my toes & despite all the shit going on in this, I just could not put it down. I’m interested to see where the second book will go.
