A lovely protagonist I was rooting for from the start made this book very compelling and a quick read. I did think briefly, in the first 50 pages, “How refreshing to read a novel about a girl who is finally getting all the good things her life deserves.” And I was humbled quickly after that. But it was still such a powerful account of coming of age, learning who you are, and standing up for yourself too.
