The characters are 18 so the steam and spice is appropriate so don't expect chili pepper spice.  At first this book leans heavily on Noah, with Alex, et al, noticing how frosty he is, how uptight he is and with no obvious apparent reason. Both of them likely to be pick 1 and 2 for their NHL debut. Alex is a ray of sunshine, all the time, he wallows in attention and couldn't be further from Noah in personality. So it's obvious he notices Noah. Despite sounding like the fun loving jock, he is perceptive to other people's feelings; just oblivious to his own. We watch their friendship start off very unbalanced with Alex never giving up and over time the scales even out and Alex learns a lot more about himself. I loved the added banter with the teammates and the group chats were very amusing. Both men had female best friends, both written as positive characters. There is some homophobic references from a family member, but this doesn't add too much angst, it just clarifies why Noah is so uptight. I loved the illustrations of the scenes throughout the book, it really added something extra. I look forward to more in the series. It's a HFN, but this is because of their age and newness of the relationship. There is a lot of depth to this book, a lot of feelings to work through, there is a maturity about it which makes you forget how young and inexperienced the MC's are. Written in third person POV. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
