The Hemlock Queen by Hannah Whitten
5.0
"Odd, how easily hate and love could fade into each other, passion in fluid forms."
I was anxious the entire time I read this.
Hannah Whitten's second title in her Nightshade Crown Trilogy, The Hemlock Queen, if filled with angst and tension.
Following the events of The Foxglove King, Lore finds herself even more immersed in court politics, as well as coming to terms with her - and Bastian's - new magic, and her fraught relationships with both Bastian and Gabe. As the three of them try to come to terms with their new dynamic, they simultaneously are understanding the cause of Lore and Bastian's magic.
I could not put this book down - Hannah Whitten's writing is perfect, angsty prose that continues to keep me hooked into her books. The entire time you read this, you will sense the building of something dark and terrible - the tension is palpable. The ending of this one had me screaming, crying, throwing up - but that makes me so much more excited for the final installment of this series.
"If you sin, make it count."
