I am SHOCKED at how much I enjoyed this. One part romantic fantasy, one part zoological love-letter, and one part cozy mystery - I didn't think this combination would work but it does! I will say, I saw the big twist coming at 46%, but I don't mind. It was very refreshing how casually and naturally MacLean wrote in a diverse cast of characters. Aila is so incredibly relatable you cannot help but adore her. This is a must-read cozy standalone fantasy.
