My Sister, the Serial Killer by Oyinkan Braithwaite

4.0

A really quick read and kinda fun to boot! I’m not sure the message was articulated particularly well, if there even was an intended message (family above all? shared trauma trumps morality?) and I think the shortness of the book contributed to that. Not sure I’d call this book a dark comedy. The comedy starts and ends with the “crazy” idea that someone would help their sister cover up a murder. There was also some commentary about the shallow nature of men—yes, all men! that wasn’t particularly nuanced.

But it was fast-paced and I felt for the main characters, even Ayoola. There was never a dull moment, that’s for sure.
