Exciting to see what might have been, and fascinating and frustrating as you see the same errors continue through time to the present. If Lincoln hadn’t been killed and they had gone through with land redistribution… things would have turned out so much better. One of the rare situations in history where they had both the means and genuine motivation to make things better, but were undone by the blinders of their own ideology.
