The BFG by Roald Dahl
4.0
We've been reading Roald Dahl's The BFG as a family. And, I gotta give my husband mad props for his reading skills. Not only did he do a great BFG voice, but he also handled the tongue twisters of the BFG's language with skill. In case you don't know, the BFG is the Big Friendly Giant and he and Sophie must team up to get the Queen's attention to prevent the other giants from continuing to eat "human beans". My favorite thing about this book is Dahl's use of language and how he found the perfect words to replace the word you were expecting to hear while at the same time making the BFG's meaning perfectly clear. As we were finishing the book, I had a revelation about the book in relation to Dahl's own life and I am happy that it was confirmed in his last sentences. This book was an absolute delight and I am really looking forward to the movie.
