The Roanoke Girls by Amy Engel

4.0

A story about many things that will make you want more. It begins with the death of one of “The Roanoke Girls”. There are several generations of women within this family who are tied emotionally and physically to the family homestead called Roanoke. The story revolves around the eldest generation, Gran and Granddad. The primary Roanoke character is Granddad and his sisters, wife and the subsequent generations of girls/women. When one of the women dies, her daughter goes “home” to the Kansas estate for the services and to meet her family. She stays for the summer and when she leaves she has no intention of returning until her Granddad calls her about her missing cousin, Allegra. The story takes many twists and turns from there but will have you hooked and rapidly turning the pages.
Ultimately this is a story of the need for a family’s love and how this can go well and how it can be a disaster.
Loved this and highly recommend.
