The Invention of Hugo Cabret by Brian Selznick

5.0

this book was the very definition of the word whimsical

the invention of hugo cabret is about a thief who secretly keeps all the clocks in the train station working, a grumpy old toy-maker, a stubborn and curious girl, a mechanical man, and magic.

i adored this book so much. it's just such a wonderful ride, getting to know all these characters and seeing all these beautiful drawings by brian selznick himself. there is a sense of wonder in every page of this book, and i just kept reading and reading and reading, completely in awe of what i'm seeing. the drawings and the photographs add so much to the story, and all of it just ends up to be an amazing story.

this book made me want to cry happy tears by the end, and i want everyone to read it and experience it for themselves.
