This is a fun book to read! The author uses a similar technique to the Lemony Snicket books by using the narrator as a character in the story who doesn't ever interact with the main characters. The biggest difference is that this is a much lighter book. It isn't all doom and gloom. Cass and Max-Ernest are interesting characters who, as outcasts, bond together over the mystery they find themselves involved in. I was entertained by this book and look forward to reading the other books in this series.
