Superman: Last Son of Krypton by Geoff Johns

4.0

I have to say that upon reading this, I saw many....MANY....parallels to "Man of Steel". I'm not going to say what they were, but it felt a little screenplay-ish for a lot of the first story. Superman believed he was the last Kryptonian...then came Supergirl and at some point Superdog. To his shock, a little boy literally falls out of the sky (encapsulated in something of course) and is Kryptonian. As if that wasn't enough, he was a match for Superman, so he and Lois ended up adopting him. After that, the story goes haywire. We find out that the boy isn't who he believes he is nor is he who we believe he is. It was a good read and I wanted it to continue.

Then we get to the second story, which I should call, "Juggs, Brainiac and Supergirl". Again-deja vu with this. I kinda skimmed it because as I read it, I recall seeing all this somewhere before. Maybe a DC movie, maybe on Justice League, but it was all familiar. Supergirl is living in fear of Braniac because of the bad things he did to her planet and family. Superman has never met Braniac, only his representatives. Blah blah blah later, Superman and Braniac are fighting 10 pages and the inevitable happens.

I'm not going to give anything away, but it was really good. Although I did prefer the first story and am looking forward to a sequel.
