The Pact by Karina Halle
3.0
Hello everybody my name is Sara and I'm running out of ways to describe my thoughts and opinions on generic romance novels and yet can't get myself to stop listening to generic romance novels. It's an illness there may not be a cure for.
I felt a little gypped in this one because it was listed under the "Marriages of Convenience" section on Audible Romance and there's no marriage of convenience. Yes, the two main characters make a pact to get married at age thirty if neither of them are married at that time, but no marriage occurs throughout the whole book.
This is a fine enough book, but as I said before, I'm just running out of things to say that I haven't already said about 90% of the other romance novels I've read this year. There was nothing truly special here, it wasn't particularly charming, witty, or fun, the chemistry between the characters was serviceable but not off the charts, and the plot was very been there done that. If you have read another book about a will they-won't they between two longtime friends, you've probably read this book before. It isn't bad, it just isn't unique.
