The Inconvenient Indian: A Curious Account of Native People in North America by Thomas King

5.0

In The Inconvenient Indian, King presents many "accounts" of Native people throughout history with his craft of combining humor and insight that captured my attention so thoroughly that I could not put this book down. I devoured it in 3 days. King may not have written this book as a reference tool. However, it will be one that I return to frequently as an educator of social studies. He taught me a great deal and peaked a necessary interest in the relations between Native people and white colonial settlers in North America in the past and present, which requires us to look to the future and question how we will perpetuate or disrupt the trends found in history. I highly recommend this book for any North American.
