Another fun filled teacher romance, but this time it was all about Stella and Romeo as they found themselves fake engaged, enemies to lovers, forced proximity, destination wedding in Hawaii, romance, crazy shenanigans, and more! In the last book it seemed like everything was going well between Stella and Romeo until suddenly after a baseball outing which Romeo took Stella to resulted in their friendship going down the drain. Now in this book, Romeo and Stella couldn’t stand to be near each other or talk. With Stella suddenly needing a fake fiancé in order to save face against her arch nemesis, she needed to figure out how she and Romeo could pretend to be the happiest couple ever.
In the previous book, “See Me After Class”, Romeo and Stella were the best of friends, they always had a natural ease with one another, and everyone thought they’d make a great couple if they got together. Romeo had been secretly crushing over Stella, as was apparent through his behavior and yet one single night out with Stella changed everything. I felt bad for Romeo because, in his mind he had it all planned out in him telling Stella his feelings towards her, and yet what was suppose to be their first date, ended up with Cora tagging along, and apparently Stella going home with some baseball rookie. Romeo was definitely not in the best of moods in this book, and it was a shock for me since normally (based off last book) he was always charming, cool, and an overall great joy to be around. This time around, he was a grumpy guy who wanted nothing to do with Stella. Stella on the other hand, had no idea why Romeo suddenly was mean towards her, and wondered what she did that resulted in losing her best friend. I didn’t like seeing the animosity between Stella and Romeo, I missed seeing them joke around each other, but obviously with them not properly communicating about what was on their minds, the miscommunication trope was full force in this story.
Romeo Oh Romeo, where are thou Romeo? Phew speaking Shakespeare isn’t easy, but felt appropriate to write since Brock’s nickname is Romeo haha, and let me just say he lived up to his nickname of, Mr. Roams His Hands All Over My Body!! Romeo definitely was someone I wasn’t expecting and I mean that in the sense that based off the previous book, I was expecting a goofy, sweet guy, but OH MY GOD WITH HIS ALPHA/DOMINANT SIDE COMING OUT AHHHH I WAS FERAL I TELL YOU! Romeo went beyond my expectations and yeah I just felt the need to express my love for him through quoting Shakespeare. Seeing him so unhinged when being alone with Stella was HOT! Like WOW! He truly longed and ached for her… lucky Stella. Stella and Romeo always had great chemistry so you can imagine that when I read their spicy scenes together I was…PHEW *FANNING MYSELF! I cannot get over that one scene with the phone… no spoilers but let’s just say that Stella had a fun video to look back on with her and Romeo!!! The spice in this book was equal parts, fun, sexy, steamy, and ever so passionate between Stella and Romeo!
Both Stella and Romeo had to work on themselves from properly communicating their feelings to each other to Stella working through his issues with her Dad. Stella’s initial issue with her Dad being engaged to her high school bully was a lot more than it seemed, which I didn’t anticipate. Reading how Stella came to the realization that she had several things she needed to work on with herself was the right thing to do. In order to fully be with Romeo, Stella made the choice to work through her issues with her Dad and herself to get to the root of her problems. Stella was definitely struggling with her internal issues, especially when learning about the true issue of her life, her lack of happiness, feeling like she wasn’t successful. I felt like I could relate to some of the things that Stella was going through, in that at a certain age, I imagined my life differently as well. Stella’s character growth was a big step for her, and I was happy to see her making strides to move forward in her life.
While Stella tried her best to work on herself, and tried working things out with Romeo, there was still that lingering feeling that she wasn’t good enough for him. One of Stella’s biggest obstacles in this story was not only learning to love herself, but also taking into account others feelings such as, Romeo’s. The constant back and forth question on the state of what type of relationship Romeo and Stella could have was among the issues they had to work through. Poor Romeo felt like despite all that he did or said, nothing got through to Stella, and therefore he felt rejected and heartbroken. Just like any relationship, Stella and Romeo had to work through their issues, even at the lowest point (towards the end of the story) they managed to find their way back to each other in a better, healthier way to finally cement their relationship.
Another great, fun book to read by the wonderful Meghan Quinn. I love her writing style and her stories never fail to make me smile and laugh. Stella and Romeo were hilarious, lovable, fun characters, and their chemistry was off the charts! Despite the miscommunication between Stella and Romeo being heavily used and at times kind of annoying, it was such a relief for me when they finally aired out all their issues/ concerns. I was happy to see Stella and Romeo get their happy ending. Beginning to end, it was quite the rollercoaster to see how Stella and Romeo finally got to their happy ending together. From the laughs, the spicy scenes, the friend group, and of course the crazy shenanigans, I loved this book. Stella and Romeo were fantastic and the romance was great as well.
