Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo

5.0

I had never heard of this book till the news of the Netflix adaptation came into being. Thus, I went into this book purely due to the hype around it.

Since this is the first book I've read from the GrishaVerse, I had trouble understanding certain details or characters. But once the flow set in, I could not stop myself from devouring this book!

The book spans the journey that Kaz and his crew take to the Ice Court and what happens there after. I suspected that the book will drag as it describes a one day affair but Leigh Bardugo surprised me with this pacy story with details and sub plots that never felt redundant. Kudos to that!

My favourite character was Kaz Brekker himself. Out of all the POVs, I was always waiting for one with Kaz. Bardugo did a good job by unraveling his past slowly without giving away too much at once. I had read reviews about a certain couple but never did I imagine that a story about misplaced people could handle romance this beautifully!

Bardugo's characters started out invincible but gradually displayed their vulnerabilities and proved themselves human. The emotions were dealt with subtly. Nothing was over the top sappy but did tug at your heart strings. And oh how I would love to talk about the couples here! But please give it a read yourself to witness this journey of six teenagers fighting their own evils and eventually besting them.

I can't wait to read Crooked Kingdom now!!!
