Geographies of the Holocaust by
5.0
I really liked this anthology. In particular two takeaways stuck with me:
1. Comparing the differences between the Nazi's visions and plans for the future and the "messy" reality of the Holocaust helps us to de-centre the gaze of the perpetrators.
2. Affording each geography (And thus each chapter in the book) a "distinctive look" is important as it counters temptations to provide a "single aesthetic approach" to the subject. This allows the reader to shift between different scales of the Holocaust thus inspiring interesting patterns of thought. Good stuff.
