Where do I even start? I was really intrigued by the blurb of this and even liked the first half of the book, most of the time. No, actually not only the first half but also the rest ... it's just that the characters annoyed me a bit. You know, nothing bothers me more if I have to read about characters that are extremely perfect, godlike and totally unaware of their appearance on other people. Just no. Is that even possible?! To NOT notice that you're beautiful and that other people like you? I don't know.

That's definitely one huge part that annoyed me endlessly. In each chapter I had to read at least once how beautiful and perfectly shaped Ashton King was. And Sophie didn't want to acknowledge that she's indeed pretty, no matter how many people told her so. Whyyyy?!

"Love is not being with someone because you think you can be happy with that person, but because without that person you know you can never be."

I was also frustrated most of the time. Like ... Ashton King? He's one of the most confusing people EVER. I never knew what to think of him. Some times he started to show this different side of him where he was honest with Sophie. Where he seemed to care but the next moment he, again, crushed all this hope with one stupid move/glare or statement. Just ugh.

Even though this all seems very negative I still enjoyed reading this book. I mean, it kept my interest and I wanted to know if Ashton is really changing for the better. Or WHY exactly he's always like that. And most importantly: How things would end between Sophie and him. I don't know, I just wanted to know!

"It's like ... hearing the most amazing song you have ever heard and no matter how much time passes or how many other songs you hear it's the only one you want to listen to, sing to, dance to. No other song makes you feel the same. It is the rhythm of your heart from the moment you hear it."

Despite all this bickering and "acting like I don't care", they definitely had chemistry. There were a couple of pretty interesting scenes where I actually shipped them a lot. I already expected the ending and even if Ashton is super arrogant and annoyed me sometimes, I liked how everything turned out for them in the end. He still had his cute moments and towards the end he really showed that he cared about Sophie and wants this to work - why not earlier, Ashton?! - but all those things with Lucinda were ... a little too rushed and abrupt for me. Oh well.

In general everything was a bit too predictable, so there was nothing to guess or decipher which is sad but in the end I didn't mind so much. It's a very easy and quick read but you definitely shouldn't expect something deep and meaningful. However, if you're up for Mr. Ashton King, some drama and an all in all really enjoyable book, this might be the perfect read for you! ;)
