The Turnglass by Gareth Rubin
mysterious
medium-paced
1.5
As many other reviewers have said, the gimmick of this book is a lot of fun, but the execution just didn't land for me in any satisfying way. I understand the intended connections between the two stories, but I still found myself unsatisfied with the revelations - I didn't learn much new about either story from reading its supposed counterpart, or at least not enough to make me want to go back and re-read the book from a new perspective.
Sadly the stories themselves as standalones equally didn't catch me for creativity. The ending to Simeon's narrative was interesting, but the lead-up to it felt as if it could have been a much shorter story, and for a second I guessed the ending too early on and it was hard for me to sit through the writing already knowing what would end up being said.
