Set in Pompeii at the height of the Roman Empire, A young woman is sold into prostitution following the death and financial ruin of her family. Educated and ambitious, Amara transforms herself from a tragic character to a sought-after courtesan and loan shark. “The Wolf Den” gives insight into how lack of autonomy can make people desperate to control their circumstances, even to the detriment of the people they love. It’s part of a trilogy and I look forward to reading books 2 and 3.
