There's a lot of focus on the main character's former relationship in this one. The mystery aspect with the cult could have been a lot more front and center. It felt like the two plot lines were rather disjointed and would have created a more engaging story if they were more interwoven like in the first book. About halfway through the book it starts to get better, but I may not have continued reading if it hadn't been for how much I liked the first book.
