I think my university education messed me up and now I can't read anything but straightforward stories anymore. I mean, I can see that a literature professor might have an entire syllabus with wild analysis on this book but for me, it's just a chaotic story with a lot of stream of consciousness-like chapters (you see, I did pay attention during classes) and the urge to be very experimental.
Sorry, but the world is experimental enough as it is. Just give me the story about Elisabeth and her dysfunctional mother and her weird relationship to her gay neighbour. That's the stuff I can relate to.
