The Truth About Forever by Sarah Dessen
5.0
I've been feeling romance-y for the last couple days and thank god for Sarah Dessen because this book was the perfect dose of romance that I was looking for. Now, I don't know if my biological clock has just officially synced up with Valentines Day, but it felt right when I reached for this book. I knew before I even got started that this one was going to be a winner and for once I was right.
I think the best asset of this book is that it's not just about a romance. Dessen knows how to pair family-love and romantic-love and in The Truth About Forever this talent is really on display. I loved the ways the story dealt with the death of a parent and the different ways people cope with grief and moving forward with their lives. I also loved how it could make my heart ache without making me feel depressed. The romance was adorable and it had that perfect amount of complexity. The balance struck between love and loss made me come away from the story with a real sense of fulfillment.
