The Ocean at the End of the Lane by Neil Gaiman

5.0

I loved Coraline. I loved Good Omens. Of course I loved this one, too! And I now have a new favorite Neil Gaiman book! I came into the story expecting something like Coraline, where the horror elements are a little downplayed by Coraline's childlike perception, but the narrator here has no such luck. The story begins with death, and the threat of it happening again sticks around to the very end. It's intense, and even in the calmer moments, there's a lingering dark cloud over everything. This is as close to "not able to put the book down" I've ever gotten!
