The Selection by Kiera Cass
3.0
I had this book on my radar when it first came out ages ago and then promptly forgot about it. I was reminded of it a few weeks ago, so I picked it up from the library. I and not sure how I feel about it though. My initial reaction is that I really liked it, at least until the last couple of chapters.
I am not a big fan of love triangles, especially ones where I don’t get the attraction to one of them. For example, I never understood “team Jacob” in Twilight. He was never meant to be with her... I don’t get anyone who is Team Aspen in this book. He ditched her, let pride get in the way, and basically gave up on her. Good riddance to bad rubbish I’d say!!
So that said I found myself smiling at the cute moments between America and Maxon. I’m cheering for them 100%! I could really do with some more of the world building out of this book as well. I definitely get some book burning, keep the lower castes illiterate vibes so we’ll see how it goes with the next few books.
