How I Die: Raised by Monsters by Lili Black

4.0

The best part about participating in bookswaps? I quite often forget which books I've put on that wishlist and since I've taken them off all other lists I sometimes even forget about books in general. This was a book I had completely forgotten about until I found it in my latest swap package. However, once I had it and once I reread the blurb I wanted to read it right away. Luckily it's a relatively short book so I could squeeze it in today!

And it was everything I had hoped it would be and even more! The idea of a werewolf father and a vampire mother raising a human daughter is already entertaining enough to fill books. However, the author also added some danger, some drama, some high school romance and some supernatural guys to fall in love with. Once I started reading it was therefore impossible to put the book down and even now I hate it that I don't have the sequels yet.

Even though the parents don't have big parts in the book I really loved how they're raising their daughter and are really trying, their way, to do what's best for her. And what our heroine thinks is best for her and what her parents think is best for her can differ at times, but still. I also can't imagine how heartbreaking it must be for our heroine to know that one day she has to choose whether to become a werewolf, like her dad, or a vampire, like her mom.

I'm however really curious where the plot and romance and everything else will go after that cliffhanger. I have encountered quite some brutal and horrible cliffhangers in my life, but this was absolutely one of them! I mean, we basically knew what would happen in this book, since it's in the title, but I wasn't prepared to get no answers at all yet on "and what happens then?". We know the how, we don't know the "and what's next"?

I can't wait to get paid again so I can get myself the sequels!
