Another strong horror debut this year. Huang's writing is so detailed and precise that the body horror is so visceral and unsettling. The plot could have been a bit tighter and more focused and some ideas given a some room to breath but thats pretty expected of a debut book. Her exploration of the wellness industry and consumption/being consumed as an object and how that intersects with race and culture was good but seemed a bit half formed at times.
