Insane Obsession by Lola Malone
2.0
I actually had good expectations for this one because of the great premise, but sadly I felt that the execution left things to desire.
The plot is about Finn, a psychology student that goes inside an abandoned asylum following a case as part of a project. He isn't alone, accompanied by classmates. At some point, Finn is trapped behind a wall. and finds that the asylum wasn't abandoned as he thought, when he meets a pair of twins, who are clearly infactuated by him.
One of the things I wasn't into were the instalove/instalust elements, which isn't exactly a flaw in itself, because I know it resonates with some people, but just not for me. However, what took me out of the story was the writting style, kind of juvenile. I'm supossed to feel that the twins are truly psychos, but it ended up looking cartoonish. There were some typos as well, which I don't consider big mistakes, since it can happen to anyone.
I still believe the premise was great. An ayslum, a naive guy meeting a pair of twins that only want him and would do anything for him sounds amazing. I am a horror fan, so I loved the vibe, but some build up could've sold the idea better. I also thought the first few chapters prior meeting the twins were great, there was some tension, but I felt that it got dropped in favor of the sex and the instant infactuation. I guess this wasn't for me, but if anyone doesn't mind these elements, then it's perfect for them.
