A new romance from Elle Kennedy? Count me in! I liked that this was outside her typical sports realm and I enjoyed the little cast of characters she created. It was like New Girl meets college meets the U.K. and I loved it. It also had the cliche plot of a girl finding herself during a study abroad trip, but I'll be honest, I also was here for this. It felt new and exciting, and Abbey did develop a lot as a character. While Jack, Jamie, and Lee were wonderful side characters, I also loved Mr. Baxley and Sophie and how their journeys went along with Abbey's. The research project with the painting and the love triangle was a perfect mirror for Abbey and that aspect of the story was fun to read. I enjoyed that all of the roommates had personalities and actually contributed to the story. There was less spice than I thought there'd be, but that didn't take away from my overall enjoyment of the book. Happy to read a standalone from Elle and I'd definitely do more from her like this.
