A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara
5.0
4.7/5 stars.
“...things get broken, and sometimes they get repaired, and in most cases, you realize that no matter what gets damaged, life rearranges itself to compensate for your loss, sometimes wonderfully.”
This was a hard reading but I made through it because I was prepared for this. Everyone says that is a really hard book and they weren't wrong.
This book is so honest and have impeccable writing, I loved how the timeline was going back and forward. I fell in love with almost every character even with the flaws that a lot of people thought that was frustrating, for me proved that they were human and had incredibly touching personalities, they breathe between the pages and you can feel that clearly. The book is full of beautiful and sincere actions of normal human beings that had been through a lot. You end up changing in how you see the people in the streets and not judge them because you don't know what they had been through.
It's a really long book that maybe could be smaller but I didn't mind reading +700 pages because this just make me get into the characters more and more and in the end I felt so close to them that sometimes I smile for their wins and of course, cry for their losses (practically all the book).
Although I feel hurt and overwhelmed it became one of the best books I read this year and the character will live forever in my heart.
Beware if you want to read it because is sad and depressing but I enjoyed a lot.
What I can say? Apparently I love depressing books.
